Amazing Opportunities.

Ok, for those of you who recently complained on facebook that I’m too vague with my posts, here’s a little blog to sum up things to help you get the general gist of what’s happening lol. (Even though I did in fact state what it was I was excited about about 5 posts down :P)

There’s a personal trainer called Gaz Brown. He’s on of THEEE BEST in New Zealand and he’s a top running specialist. He is not cheap though.

After reading Kerre Woodham’s book “Short Fat Chick To Marathon Runner” which he cowrote because he was her trainer, I found his email address and decided to hit him up to see if I could get some advice on the best way to go about training for a half marathon to a full marathon.

I didn’t really expect anything because he’s very very good and in the back of my mind I had a sinking feeling that I wouldn’t be able to afford him and a one-off consultation was probably as far as it would go.

Anyway, after a few emails back and forth, he told me that because I’m underage he’d need parental consent before even telling me how much he charges. Which wasn’t such good news for me because that probably meant he was WAAAY out of price-range.

HOWEVER, he phoned me one night a few days ago and we had a chat. He asked me a ton of questions so he could get an overview of me as a runner etc etc, and told me he’d think it over and give me an email the next day with whatever proposition he came up with.

Well…. I received and email from him two days later and he told me that he had decided to train me FREE OF CHARGE!!!! :O I couldn’t believe it! I was so shocked and so SO grateful towards him. He told me that when he was my age he had a lot of help from mentors and this was his way of giving back. I am so happy and thankful towards him for going out of his way to help me 😀

On Saturday the 14th I’ll have my first meeting with him to go over Biomechanics and stuff and do a video analysis. Then he’ll put me on a training plan and it’ll all happen from there!

Also, I’ll be buzzing up to auckland on a MOTORBIKE! So that won’t suck to hard either 😉

Hope you’re all up to date now? haha.

Hey there, my name's Jenny. I have a huge passion for cooking/baking, writing, yoga and photography. I love nature and my favourite thing to do is spend an entire day outside, breathing in crisp, fresh air. Even better if I have a pen and paper with me. I started out running in March 2009 but sustained an injury in October 2009 which has unfortunately prevented me from running. I've been experimenting with other kinds of exercise to find another one that clicks. Follow me on my journey to maintaining good health + surviving high school and pursuing a career in Journalism. I Hope you enjoy reading my blog!
